2007 March 23

On March 11, Perry resident Dr. Ron Rosenfeld withdrew his lawsuit against the chairman of the board of selectmen, David Turner, and the Town of Perry. According to Attorney John P. Foster, his client, Dr. Rosenfeld, "had looked at all the documents made available to him on March 10, and was reasonably satisfied with them." In the initial lawsuit, Rosenfeld requested that all materials, information, e-mails and documents between and pertaining to negotiations between the LNG developer, Quoddy Bay LNG, and the town be made available to the public. Turner put the matter before selectmen to release the documents one week before Rosenfeld's request. Rosenfeld had stated in an earlier letter to Selectwoman Jeanne Guisinger that he would "probably drop the lawsuit once the documents were released." Foster said, "This all could have been avoided with all the foot dragging that there was." Turner maintains that he was out of town and unable to respond to the final request made by Rosenfeld for the release of the documents.
