CALAIS The Maine Board of Environmental Protection (BEP) have voted in favour of allowing Quoddy Bay LNG to withdraw from the Maine permitting process.
At last week's hearing, board chair Ernest Hilton noted they had received a letter from Quoddy Bay asking to withdraw their application, and Jeff Thaler, one of the counsel for the company, was present to speak on their behalf.
He said the world and domestic markets had changed in the last six months. Quoddy Bay is not able to proceed with a guaranteed supply of fuel or other factors of the project that would be necessary to finance and develop the $2 billion project.
Intervenors had no objections to the withdrawal.
