Second company sues Quoddy Bay LNG

by Edward French

Quoddy Bay LNG is being sued by a second company for nonpayment of services. TRC Environmental Corporation, a Connecticut corporation, is suing the company that proposed building a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Pleasant Point and its principals, Donald Smith and Brian Smith, for $1.2 million. The suit was filed in January in U.S. District Court in the western district of Oklahoma, since Quoddy Bay LNG LLC is an Oklahoma limited liability company.

TRC Environmental performed environmental engineering services for the proposed LNG terminal from April 2005 through January 2008.

Previously, a Massachusetts company, Coler & Colantonio Inc., sued Quoddy Bay LNG for nonpayment of $159,831 charged for engineering and survey work for a natural gas pipeline from the proposed LNG terminal at Pleasant Point. That suit was filed in Washington County Superior Court last year.

Quoddy Bay's application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for the LNG terminal was dismissed in October 2008, and the company has not refiled.
