Jul 28 | Issued By: ENERGY PROJECTS, OFFICE OF [FERC] Summary: The US Department of Transportation (DOT) is evaluating alternative LNG terminal Vapor Gas Dispersion models to ensure compliance with federal safety standards. FERC is gathering related information for a Revised Draft EIS. FERC will issue a Notice of Intent to Prepare a Revised Draft EIS, with another scoping period. If and when Downeast LNG satisfies the DOT Vapor Gas Dispersion model requirements, and after FERC has then completed its analysis, FERC will issue a Revised Draft EIS. Downeast LNG indicated in early filings to FERC that their Vapor Dispersion Exclusion Zone would extend beyond the terminal fence line to halfway across highway US-1. Since the new computer models are likely to be more safety-conservative, it may be that the Exclusion Zone will extend even farther, perhaps onto private property across the highway — disqualifying the project from permitting for safety reasons.
